Beaches

The beautiful beaches of Cape May have visitors returning year after year.  Relax on the shore and go swimming in the Atlantic Ocean. Cape May has volleyball nets at Steger Beach and 2nd Ave Beach. Cape May also has designated beaches where surfing is allowed at Poverty Beach, The Cove, Surfing Beach at Gurney Street, and South Queen beach. Take a walk along the shoreline and experience all of the natural beauty the Cape May beaches have to offer.

Cape May Lighthouse

The Cape May Lighthouse is a must see at the Jersey Shore. Located at Cape May Point State Park, the lighthouse which was built in 1859 still attracts many visitors today.  Climb up the 199 steps of the Cape May Lighthouse to experience beautiful breathtaking views of the ocean, bay, and Cape May. The park also offers nature trails, bird watching platforms, a museum shop, and picnic areas.

Washington Street Mall

No trip to Cape May, NJ is complete without visiting the Washington Street Mall. Open year round, Washington Street Mall is the perfect place to walk around and explore unique shops, clothing boutiques, art galleries, and more. Washington Street Mall is also a great place to eat, with many restaurants and food offerings. Visit in the evening for drinks or for ice cream

Visit the Wineries or Brewing Company

For a relaxing afternoon in Cape May, sampling local wines at one of the many wineries in Cape May is a great idea. Willow Creek Winery, Cape May Winery, and Turdo Vineyards & Winery are all great places to visit. Do a wine tasting, and take tours of the facilities. Not a fan of wine? Consider visiting Cape May Brewing Company.  Cape May Brewing Company offers tours, and an excellent selection of local beer.

Emlen Physick Estate

One of the major draws to Cape May is the beautiful Victorian architecture. The Emlen Physick Estate, built in 1879, is a Victorian house museum.  Learn about the Victorian past and Cape May history by taking a tour of the property. They also offer Trolley Tours of Cape May, walking tours, and a mystery play where the stage is the Emlen Physick Estate itself!
